The Maynard Institute is excited to announce that Shayla Moon is joining us as our inaugural Director of Coalition Building.
In this role, Shayla will serve as the Institute’s lead staff member supporting the Coalition for Equitable Journalism Policy. Co-chaired by the Maynard Institute and the Racial Equity in Journalism Fund, the Coalition for Equitable Journalism Policy also includes the Asian American Journalists Association, Indigenous Journalists Association, Latino Media Collaborative, Media 2070, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
These organizations and other partners are working together to ensure that emerging journalism policy and public investment reflect the needs of all communities.
“Lasting policy change is rarely the work of a single voice,” Shayla said. “I am grateful to join the Maynard Institute and to learn from member organizations and partners who have long served their communities. I am eager to help them deepen their collaboration, align on shared priorities, and advance their advocacy goals.”
Shayla will help us steward relationships, facilitate strategic planning and guide partners from shared purpose to coordinated action.

“Lasting policy change is rarely the work of a single voice.
