Stanley Crouch's culture pieces have appeared in Harper's, The New York Times, Vogue, Downbeat, The New Yorker, and more. He has served as artistic consultant for jazz programming at Lincoln Center since 1987, and is a founder of Jazz at Lincoln Center. In June 2006 his first major collection of jazz criticism, Considering Genius: Jazz Writings, was published. Next year the first volume of his long-awaited biography of Charlie Parker will appear.

 

MIJE/POLITICO/AU Journalism Training Program

The Maynard Institute will partner again in 2015 with POLITICO and American University to run the POLITICO Journalism Institute, a program that will bring  a dozen promising college students from around the country for training in covering politics and government.

The program will run from June 5-12. Expenses including transportation and housing will be covered. The application deadline is May 8.

"Expanding the diversity of the press corps that covers Washington continues to be a critical need. We are pleased to partner again with POLITICO and American University and build on the success of last year’s program in training a new generation of journalists, said Maynard Institute acting executive director Evelyn Hsu.
